GOP posts online poll for 2016 convention site

WASHINGTON, DC (WTVN) -- The Republican National Committee is trying to decide where to locate their 2016 convention. Three Ohio cities are on the list of 8 being considered. Now the GOP is apparently asking the public to get involved

The Republican Party's website, GOP.com, features a poll that allows visitors to vote for their favorite city to host the 2016 convention. It's also likely a way to build the GOP's database as voters are required to enter their name and e-mail address and zip code to make a selection.

Cleveland and Columbus city leaders were in Washington DC on Monday to pitch their cities to the site selection committee. Cincinnati will be there in a couple of weeks.

GOP Chairman Reince Priebus said finances and transportation are two of the key factors he's searching for in a potential host city.

Republicans haven't carried the state that's hosted their convention since 1992 when George H.W. Bush won Texas, but lost the election to Bill Clinton.
