NEWARK, Ohio (WTVN) -- An assistant band director at Newark High School has been arrested for having sexual relations with a student.

Police charged Anthony Miller, 32, of Westerville, Ohio with sexual battery, a third-degree felony. He was taken into custody at Carson Elementary School where he is listed on the school website as a 3rd grade music teacher.

"Once they finished their interview, he was placed under arrest and taken over to the Licking County Jail," said Newark Police Sgt. Paul Davis.

On Monday February 24, 2014, Newark Police detectives arrested Anthony J. Miller, age thirty-two, of Liberty Lane in Westerville, Ohio, for Sexual Battery, a felony of the third degree.

Investigators received information late last week and conducted several interviews with current and former students at Newark High School in attempt to verify the information. A decision was made late Sunday to move forward with the case. School leaders were notified Monday morning.

Police believe there could be additional victims. Davis says it's one reason he posted the information to the department's Facebook page.

"I think it's a good talking point. People see it and the kids will talk to their parents and if there's more victims out there then maybe we'll be able to bring them in too," said Davis.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Newark Police at (740) 670-7915 or Licking County Crime Stoppers at (740) 349-6888 or 1-888-488-9058.

Miller will be in court Tuesday. His case will be presented to an upcoming session of the Licking County Grand Jury.
