Toledo lifts water ban

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVN) --The mayor of Toledo Monday lifted a water ban that left 400,000 residents of northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan snatching up all the bottled water they could get.

The announcement follows an advisory issued early Saturday not to drink, cook or bathe in the water due to the presence of toxins.

It's believed the toxins are the result of an algae bloom in Lake Erie.

The city is urging residents and businesses to clean or replace filters on ice makers, water softeners and other appliances used to treat water.
