Massachusetts State Trooper John Hagerty was patrolling a Middleboro neighborhood around 1 am on Tuesday morning when he noticed a group home on fire.
The trooper learned that one resident was trapped in a third-floor room, so he used a ladder to climb to the third-floor window and help the man down to safety.
The man remains in the hospital with serious burns, but his mother has expressed her gratitude to Hagerty for saving her son’s life.
