Paul McCartney is paying tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The 50-year-old Hawkins died suddenly Saturday during a Foo Fighters tour in South America.
McCartney inducted Foo Fighters into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last fall and played with Hawkins on a recent Foo Fighters album.
In a statement Wednesday, McCartney said "Taylor's sudden death came as a shock to me and the people who knew and loved him."
He wrote, "Not only was he a GREAT drummer but his personality was big and shiny, and will be sorely missed by all who were lucky to live and work alongside him."
