Multi-platinum British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has donated over $1-million to help young aspiring musicians after the impact that music has had on his life. In 2017, Sheeran started The Framlington Foundation Trust to help support the education and training of young musicians in Suffolk, England, the area where he grew up.

A recent accounting of the foundation's finances reveals that Sir Ed has donated over $1-million to the organization since its founding. The charity, which also goes by the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation, funds instruments, rehearsal space and gigs for up-and-coming musicians.

The former busker, who is now worth an estimated $200-million, says he’s concentrated on helping kids in the area where he grew up as a way to give back to the community that has supported him over the years. He also says he doesn’t put much value on having a lot of money, but is more concerned with his “friends and family being OK.” A source close to the artists says Sheeran “has never forgotten his struggle to reach the top and the impact music made on his life.” And adds, “It is fantastic he's helping in this way.”
