#GoodNews: Cops Replace Family’s Gifts Stolen By “True Life Grinch”

Indiana police save Christmas for a family after their gifts were stolen by a “true life Grinch” on Christmas Eve. Police officers in South Bend, Indiana, responded to a report of a burglary on Christmas morning. At the victim’s home, they discovered that the burglar had taken all of the family’s Christmas gifts and even some of the food from their refrigerator.

One of the responding officers, Patrolman Brian Meador compared the burglary to the story “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” and said, “They really left this family with nothing much at all.” The officer wanted to do something to help the family, so he reached out to the South Bend Fraternal Order of Police.

Pretty soon, several officers descended on the family’s home and showered them with new Christmas presents. They brought the mother and her three children several gifts including a bicycle, dolls, and other toys. They even came back a little later to bring the family some food. The grateful mother thanked the officers for saving Christmas for her family, but Meador says they were just doing their duty to serve and protect the community. “To see those little girls’ faces when they saw the presents under the tree and started playing with them,” Officer Meador says. “That’s why we do what we do.“
