A new report is detailing a shocking near-plane catastrophe.
A San Francisco-bound United Airlines flight was within less than 775 feet of plunging into the Pacific Ocean late last year.
The report in "Air Current," which was confirmed by United Airlines, explains that the plane reportedly took a steep dive after departing from Maui on December 18th.
The plane took off during heavy rain and a flash flood warning and reportedly fell at about 8,600 feet per minute before making a full recovery.
The dive and recovery happened in 45 seconds and the plane landed safely in San Francisco.
The dive produced nearly three times the force of gravity on the plane and its passengers.
The FAA reminds passengers to report any incidents to them voluntarily.
