A South Carolina woman is crediting police officers for saving her life after a traffic stop.
On December 22nd, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Police received a call about a possibly intoxicated driver on US Highway 17. Patrolmen First Class Aton and Schoonmaker with the Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) were dispatched.
The officers found the vehicle and made a stop after seeing that the driver was unable to stay in the lane and hit the curb multiple times. Aton and Schoonmaker say that the driver, Tamara Parker, didn’t exhibit any signs of being intoxicated on drugs or alcohol, but she was complaining of having a headache. They determined that she was having a medical emergency and called an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and Parker reached out to the Mount Pleasant Police to thank them for likely saving her life. While at the hospital after the traffic stop, doctors found a tumor in her brain. She underwent an eight-hour procedure and is now “doing great,” thanks in part to the officers. In a recent post to social media, the MPPD praised the officers for their attentiveness. “Ms. Palmer feels that these officers absolutely saved her life,” the post reads. “Without their quick analysis of the situation, the outcome could have ended differently.”
