On the evening of July 24th, New Mexico State Police Officer Ismael Perez pursued a car driven by Miguel Covarrubias, who was rushing his expecting wife to the hospital when she delivered their child in the car.
When they reached the hospital, Perez discovered a motionless newborn baby in the passenger seat and began performing back slaps on the infant.
The baby took his first breath just as hospital staff reached them and now Perez is being hailed as a hero for his lifesaving actions.
