Gondola Capsizes In Venice Canal After Tourists Won't Stop Taking Selfies

A group of tourists got into a boatload of trouble when their gondola capsized in the Venice canals after they refused to stop taking selfies and standing up in the boat. The gondola was going under a bridge near St. Mark’s Square when it flipped over, pouring the group into the freezing, murky water.

The gondolier had reportedly told the five passengers to sit until they were under the bridge so the boat’s weight would be evenly distributed…but they just wouldn’t listen.

The gondolier jumped into the freezing waters to help passengers onto the rescue gondola. They were later provided “hospitality and warmth” inside the La Fenice theatre, and no injuries were reported.
