Fans, Players Get Into Brawl At Waste Management Open

The Waste Management Phoenix Open devolved into a complete and total “s***show,” over the weekend, according to a PGA Tour golfer.

Hordes of fans at TPC Scottsdale were described as “Totally out of control on every hole,” says South Korean-born golfer Byeong Hun An.

There also were videos posted of fights breaking out in the galleries while fans chanted “We want beer” during the moments when alcohol had been suspended.

One guy even dove half-naked into a sand trap, and another video was posted of Zach Johnson telling a fan to “shut up” during a heated argument.

Jordan Spieth was no exception to the problems at Saturday’s event.

He told “SI” that officers let him know the main entrances had been blocked off and that’s when he knew things were bad. “Once he said that, I thought maybe we were in a little bit of trouble this afternoon, but we were on the front nine so it was a little less rowdy, and I heard they stopped alcohol sales…Saturday is normally the big day, but I think with 27 holes [Sunday], we might see some more people come out than usual.”
