Over the weekend, a kidnapping victim was rescued in El Monte, California, with the help of the Find My iPhone app. When a man showed up to his girlfriend’s workplace on Saturday evening distraught and armed, an argument ensued, eventually leading to the suspect forcing his girlfriend into her car and driving away.
During the abduction, the victim managed to contact a friend, who quickly informed law enforcement and gave them location information by tracking her with the Find My iPhone app. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident and soon caught up with the vehicle. The suspect led California High Patrol officers on a 21-mile chase that continued until the vehicle was stopped using spike strips.
The alleged kidnapper was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges including kidnapping and evading police. The victim was fortunately unharmed in the incident, according to authorities.
