Disney Cruise Ship Rescues 4 On Sinking Catamaran In Bermuda

On Sunday, a brand new Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Treasure, rescued four people from a sinking catamaran off the coast of Bermuda. The 50-foot catamaran, named Serenity, was about 230 miles from Bermuda when it began taking on water, leading the passengers to call for help. Following their distress call, the Coast Guard out of North Carolina issued a broadcast looking for help from ships in the area.

The Disney Treasure, which was roughly 80 miles from the scene, responded to the call and launched a small rescue boat to reach the passengers. All four individuals were safely recovered from the catamaran, with no reported injuries or medical issues following their rescue.

Disney Treasure Captain Marco Nogara was happy with the successful rescue, saying, “We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril.” He praised the crew’s efforts, their skillful teamwork, and commitment to safety. At the time of the rescue, the Disney Treasure was en route from Eemshaven, Netherlands, to Port Canaveral, Florida.
