Through its Family Reunification program, the Arizona-based nonprofit organization Hidalgo Sin Fronteras recently reunited a mother and daughter after 24 years apart. At the emotional reunion, Carlota Arrieta got to hug her mom, Victoria Fernandez, for the first time in more than two decades. Arrieta’s daughter, Enedelia Roldan, expressed deep appreciation for the organization, stressing how meaningful it was for her family to reconnect after such a long separation.
Hidalgo Sin Fronteras was founded in 2019 by Isamar Moreno’s mother and has since helped 700 families reunite by working with individuals over 55 to help them get 10-year visas to visit their loved ones in the U.S. Moreno shares how the program has also impacted her family, reuniting her grandfather and father after 22 years apart, and her grandmother after 26 years.
The Family Reunification program continues to grow, recently expanding to include families from Guatemala. Roldan encourages others to consider applying, admitting that the process can be long, but is well worth the wait.
