Checking under the bed for monsters is something most children ask to be done, but the monsters usually have the decency not to be there.
In Great Bend, Kansas, a babysitter was watching over children when one expressed fear of a "monster" under the bed.
To reassure them, she checked and unexpectedly found a man hiding there.
A confrontation ensued, during which both the babysitter and the child were knocked over, and the man fled the scene.
The Barton County Sheriff's Office responded around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
The next day, deputies located and apprehended 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr. after a brief pursuit.
Villalobos, who had a protection order to stay away from the property, was arrested on charges including aggravated kidnapping and child endangerment and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
