A crash near the Surrey-Delta border in British Columbia on Saturday produced a scene that left bystanders reaching for their phones: a motorcycle dangling high above Scott Road from an overhead traffic signal pole.

Delta police said a collision between the motorcycle and a car sent the bike airborne and into the signal structure at 72nd Avenue just before 3 p.m. Photos and video circulated widely online, with onlookers expressing disbelief.

Bystander Jevon Ryan said he couldn't wrap his head around it: "You'd think it would launch to the sidewalks, to the businesses, but to perfectly get up there and wrap itself around…it's wow." The rider was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, a BMW with severe front-end damage, was unhurt. Scott Road between 70th and 72nd Avenue was closed while crews worked to bring the motorcycle down from the signal pole.
