Officer Cody Lamielle of the Wadsworth Police Department is being called a hero after he rescued and woman and her elderly mother from a burning car!

The officer responded to a call of a car driving erratically. The woman behind the wheel told Ofc. Lamielle that her car was having mechanical trouble. Ofc. Lamielle noticed smoke and flames from underneath the hood. That's when he pulled the woman's elderly mother from the car before the car burst into flames!

WPD would like to recognize Officer Cody Lamielle for his efforts in assisting two motorists whose vehicle caught on fire on State Route 57 last week. On January 2, 2017, The Wadsworth Police Department received information from another local agency about a vehicle that was driving erratically. Ofc. Lamielle was on routine patrol in his district and spotted the vehicle described. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at which point the driver indicated she was having mechanical difficulties with her truck. Shortly after, Ofc. Lamielle spotted smoke and flames coming from underneath the vehicle's hood. He was able to quickly assist the driver and her elderly mother in exiting the vehicle safely while calling for backup from both the police and fire departments. Excellent work, Ofc. Lamielle!
