Couple With Down Syndrome Celebrates 22 Years Of Marriage

Maryanne and Tommy Pilling walked down the aisle back in 1995 and a lot of people had their doubts about the couple because they both have Down syndrome. But 22 years later, this happy couple is showing the world that they are living happily ever after.

At the time they tied the knot, they were believed to be one of the first couples with Down syndrome to get married. And a lot of people weren’t sure they would make it because of that. But Maryanne, 45, and Tommy, 59 are proving their marital bliss can last like any other husband and wife’s.

The couple, who dated for 18 months before he asked her mom for permission to pop the question, live independently in their own home, with their family right next door. “Tommy and I never argue. I love my husband very much," Maryanne says. "He is my best friend." Congratulations to the happy couple.
