Shy Five-Year-Old Girl Becomes Youngest Spelling Bee Champ

At only five years old, Edith Fuller has become the youngest regional spelling bee champ ever. This shy little girl beat out kids as old as 15 at the contest in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is now on her way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Fuller spelled challenging words like “Croesus” and “Jnana” [[JUH-na-nuh]] correctly in 10 rounds against five other kids to become the winner. At the National Spelling Bee later this year, she’ll face 300 other regional winners for the crown. Best of luck, Edith!
