Canton's First Friday

First Friday is racing up again and this month’s theme is Kentucky Derby! Stop on in to Vintage Frame Affair and get your Kentucky Derby portrait done, Pinetree Primitives & Rustic Riches to place your bets and pick your horse for special surprise discounts, and Cantonology for their special carousel horse salute. Grapes in a Glass will be serving a traditional “mint julep” and the race fan favorite “Black Eyed Susan” while Carpe Diem Coffee will be serving up a “mock” julep and free drinks to those who wear derby hats!

Stop by the Canton Palace Theatre where you can experience a FREE showing of “Racing Stripes” at 7:30pm. Tickets are required and are available in advance through the Canton Palace Theatre Box Office.

Gallop on through the galleries and shops where you can check out some amazing deals. Lynda Tuttle’s Art Center will give you a Sneak Peek at “Earth Sky Sea”, while John Strauss Furniture Design will be featuring their new designs. Stop by Kolp’s Attic for Writing Knights’ grand re-location and then head on over to Strung By Shawna for some awesome make and takes. Makeshift will be showcasing “Incubate This - A Community Art Show”, Canton Museum of Art will be showing a new American ceramics exhibition, and Print & Press will have some new warm-weather styles from Little Chicago Clothing Co. Head on over to the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography to view the winning photographs for this year’s Arbor Day Photo Contest.

If that doesn’t make you race down to the Arts District, we “bet” you will be thrilled with all of the live music filling the streets! The Auricle will be hosting Bad Bad Hats and Post Saga while The Vibe will have Church of Starry Wisdom. Bret Kuhnash will be playing at Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre from 6-8pm, followed by Matt Riviera from 8-10, Dave Marchione will be entertaining at the Joseph Saxton Gallery from 7-9 and we will have Jordan Long outside with Acid Cats on the mainstage at 8pm!

Visit Canton will be open for the evening as well to provide you with information about things to do and see in Stark County! Stop in there for a special giveaway!

First Friday is brought to you by the Downtown Special Improvement District and, of course, ArtsinStark.
