Wendy Williams Claims Meghan Markle Is 'Lying To Get Sympathy'

Wendy Williams has no sympathy for how Duchess Meghan Markle is being treated in the British media.

The 55-year-old talk show host let the world know whether the public should commiserate with Markle amid all the intense scrutiny she's been under since becoming a royal after her marriage to Prince Harry last year. The short answer: Nope. Let Williams tell it, the 38-year-old only has herself to blame for ignoring friends who apparently advised her not to marry the Duke of Sussex.

“You know who warned her? Some hating-a-- girlfriend of hers,” said Williams during Tuesday's broadcast (October 22) of The Wendy Williams Show. “You know what I’m saying? Like, you meet a prince, and your friend is going to tell you not to marry? Or Meghan’s lying to try to [get] sympathy.”

In case you didn't know, this all stems from the lawsuits Meghan and Harry have filed against Associated Newspapers, the publishers of Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday for what is being described as bullying of the press, which involves an alleged illegal voicemail message interception and publishing private letters Meghan sent her estranged father.

Despite accusing Meghan of soliciting pity from the public, Williams admitted she liked the royal couple but expressed having misgivings about the Duchess specifically: "There’s something about her. You know what I’m saying? And you know what, um, girl, um, Meghan? Meghan, don’t be surprised that the paparazzi are everywhere. Of course — because you’re now a royal."

Of course, Williams didn't pass up the chance to shade the Suits alum by basically insinuating she was a nobody before becoming a royal. In closing, she asserted: “Meghan Markle, nobody feels sorry for you. You know what you were signing up for, girl!”
