New 'Mulan' Trailer Pays Tribute To Fan-Favorite Music From Original Film

Disney dropped the first official trailer for the upcoming live-action remake of Mulan on Thursday (December 5). While fans were originally dismayed to learn the new version would actually be quite different from the animated classic, this trailer will certainly change their minds.

Taking inspiration from an ancient Chinese poem titled The Ballad of Mulan, which the animated film was also based on, fans will see a more realistic take on their favorite warrior. This means the live-action version won't feature musical numbers, though the trailer does honor the fan-favorite songs from the animated version. Throughout the trailer, instrumental versions of 'Reflection' and 'I'll Make a Man Out of You' are prominently featured.

Some other big differences fans will notice in the trailer for the live-action film is that Mushu, Cricket and Captain Li Shang will not be featured in the 2019 version. Instead, the trailer introduces fans to some intriguing new characters. There will be two villains in this movie: a man named Böri Khan and a witch named Xian Lang. While Mulan was an only child in the 1998 film, she will have a sister named Hua Xiu in the live-action movie.

Mulan opens in theaters on March 27, 2020. Are you excited to see the live-action version?
