The staff at a Kansas bar get a $50-thousand tip to split among them. Johnny’s Tavern in North Lawrence, Kansas, is always busy during March Madness, especially when the KU Jayhawks are in the running. Johnny’s staff say they enjoy the work and feel appreciated, but this weekend they got a special reward when they were given a $50-thousand tip to split among them.
Friday night during halftime of the Jayhawks game, Johnny’s staff were lined up behind the bar and TikTok star Lexy Burke, who's known as the “The Serial Tipper,” delivered the good news. Each of the bar’s 60 employees, including kitchen staff, would be splitting the big tip — getting them more than $800 each. Normally, Burke crowdfunds her tips from her TikTok followers, but this time the big tip came from Ally Bank as part of the bank’s Ally Tip-Off campaign.
In addition to tipping the staff at Johnny’s, Ally Bank also picked up the bar tabs for the customers at the bar for the first half of Friday night’s game. Fan-favorite bars of the Arizona Wildcats, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Providence Friars teams also got surprise tips and bar tabs as part of the campaign.
