Nathan Day got a call early one-morning last week from a neighbor asking him to save her grandchildren, who were trapped on the roof of their house by rising floodwaters.
Up until that moment, Nathan didn’t realize that his Eastern Kentucky community was experiencing unprecedented flooding and many of his neighbors were in need of rescuing.
Nathan and his wife helped get the five children and their mothers to safety and then went out and rescued two of his former teachers, who he knew lived alone in the flood zone.
