Bernardo and Arthur Lima are conjoined twins who were born with their brains fused together and after a marathon series of surgeries, have been successfully separated.
A team of 100 medical professionals led by London neurosurgeon Noor ul Owase Jeelani and Brazilian pediatric surgeon Dr. Gabriel Mufarrej took part in the days-long procedure.
The separation was only possible because — for the first time in history — medical teams from around the world had the chance to practice for months via virtual reality.
