During this past offseason, it’s no secret that the Cleveland Browns made themselves a few enemies with their acquisition of Deshaun Watson.
According to Peter King, of NBC Sports, none of the NFL’s 31 other owners aren’t the least bit thrilled about the “rigged contract” they gave Watson, which essentially backloaded the contract so he’d lose as little cash as possible during any suspension that was thrown at him.
If the six-game suspension stands, and it is currently being appealed by the NFL, Watson will only lose $344,655 from his 2022 base salary of $1.035-million, and none of his “nearly $45-million signing bonus” will be affected.
Reports say that “doesn’t sit well” with the rest of the league’s ownership.
