#GoodNews: Rescuers Save Family Stranded In Forest For 3 Days With Baby

Rescuers in California save a family with a baby who was stranded in the wilderness for three days. A family of four was hiking in a remote part of Tahoe National Forest when the mother suffered heat exhaustion and was unable to continue. After three days, the husband hiked out alone to call for help.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter wasn’t able to locate the family because they were in a deep canyon under a dense canopy of trees. They eventually located the father near the family’s car and he was able to guide deputies on foot to the rest of the family.

Nevada County Search and Rescue teams found the family in what they described as some of the steepest terrains in the area. They escorted the father, a child, and an infant up the canyon to their vehicle and left a team member with the mother. A short while later, a rescue crew in a helicopter returned to hoist the mother out of the canyon to safety.
