A former Eagles player gives a teenage Eagles superfan two tickets to the Super Bowl. Giovanni “Gio” Hamilton, a 15-year-old sports podcaster and Eagles superfan crowdfunded $18,000 to cover the cost of him and his mom’s trip to the Super Bowl. But then just three days after reaching that goal, former Eagles tight end Zack Ertz surprised the teen with two additional tickets so he can bring his siblings.
Ertz posted a video to the Ertz Family Foundation’s Twitter account of him surprising Gio with the additional tickets. "I want to make it a family affair, I don't want it to be just you and your mom," Ertz says in the video. "I'm the oldest of four boys. I know how much it means to have your brothers there present in your life. So I want to gift you two tickets so your brother and sister can come to the game out here in Arizona as well."
In addition to the tickets from Ertz, Gio also got hooked up with rooms courtesy of Colts owner Jim Irsay and scored a media pass with some help from NFL Network sportscaster Rich Eisen. On Friday, Gio tweeted a response to the outpouring of support he’s been getting from his fans. "I can't thank you guys enough," he writes, "I always feel like the odd one out but not when I am with you guys and not when I am watching football. I belong and I feel like I belong because of you. Go Birds. Love Gio."
