Deputies in Florida find a missing four-year-old with his loyal dog by his side and reunite him with his grateful family. Last Friday morning, Franklin 'Frankie' Orwig III went missing from his family’s Cocoa, Florida, home while his dad, Frank, was napping. "I wasn’t even asleep 35 minutes or so,” Frank recalls. “Then I get up, I look for him, he wasn’t in the house, and I’m freaking out."
The dad contacted the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and they activated their Child Abduction Response Team including a helicopter to search from above. Frankie was spotted a short while later by the helicopter and search crews on the ground were directed to his location in a heavily wooded area some 60 yards behind the Orwig’s home.
Little Frankie was found unharmed and his loyal dog, Rufus, was right by the toddler’s side the whole time. Deputies carried the boy out of the woods and reunited him with his father. "I ran up to him, and I wouldn’t even let him go,” Franks says. “I was just crying so badly." Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey thanked everyone involved in the search effort and called it a testament to how cooperation between law enforcement and the community helps “to keep everyone safe.”
