We’ve heard the saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover.” The same advice is true for dogs, too. Just as physical appearance is not a predictor of our behaviors or personality; the same applies to every dog born. Mislabel, or negatively stereotyped, can create an environment void of hope and promise.
Few people know there is no such PitBull breed. A pitbull is accurately defined as any dog taught to be aggressive toward another inside a ring. Darren runs the risk of being mislabeled because of his physical characteristics associated with the stereotype. His smooth coat, whip-tail, short ears, and squared head are indicators of his Terrier heritage; however, there is no indication that he has ever seen the inside of a ring.
Some believe Darren’s age is a second strike against him. Thought to be about eight years of age, he is considered senior. Best described as docile and loving, he will bring a calm demeanor and excellent manners to his next home.
Lastly, Darren’s body shows signs of a life lived. Callouses, skin tags, and a skin allergy make this boy appear weathered. Pay It Forward For Pets will provide appropriate funding to get him ready for his golden years. Darren may have three strikes against him but let’s not let him strikeout!
