A Michigan couple wins a $1-million lotto jackpot from a ticket they’d forgotten in a coat pocket.

Anna Elizalde says she and her husband buy a ticket for every Powerball drawing. "I purchased a Powerball ticket as usual, and I gave it to my husband to hold on to,” the 51-year-old Lansing woman says. “A week after the drawing my husband found the ticket in his coat pocket and realized we had never checked it."

They took the ticket to a local store to check it and were in for quite a surprise. "We went to the store to scan it and got a message to file a claim,” she recalls. “When we checked the numbers online and realized we'd won $1 million, we were in shock!” That ticket that they’d forgotten about was a million-dollar winner.

Elizalde says that she always knew they’d win big one day. “We always had a feeling this day would come,” she says. “Now that it's here, it feels surreal.” She plans to use some of the money to pay bills, some to pay for her kid’s education, and is going to save what’s left.
