After his conviction for raping five women, Matthew McKnight filed an appeal to try to get his sentence reduced.

An Alberta, Canada appeals court has now ruled on his case, and they agreed that his eight-year sentence wasn’t appropriate…and raised it to 11 years in jail.

The judge in his initial trial had said that a 16.5-year sentence would have been appropriate, but she didn’t want to “crush” a first-time offender.

The appeals court said the judge was too lenient; this was reportedly his last appeal.
