Police Surprise Boy With New Bike After His Was Stolen

Austin, Texas, police officer Wut Tantaksinanukij recently responded to a report that a bike had been stolen from the Helping Hand Home for Children. The officer reassured the kids at the home for children dealing with trauma that everything was going to be okay and they would step up patrols of the area.

The boy whose bike was stolen was understandably upset though. He was an avid cyclist and was very attached to his bike, so the officer wanted to do something to help him. He texted a few fellow officers and within minutes, he’d raised enough money to buy the boy a new bike.

On Friday, APD officers showed up at the home and gave the boy his brand new shiny red bicycle, the boy’s favorite color. When they gave him the bike, the grateful young man hugged the officers. “I just want to thank all of them,” the boy says. “Especially since they all contributed because they didn’t have to do this, they wanted to.”
