Idaho Will Allow Execution By Firing Squad

Idaho will now allow execution by firing squad.

Governor Brad Little signed the legislation Friday after the state experienced difficulty in securing drugs needed to carry out lethal injections.

Idaho is now the fifth state in the nation to allow death by firing squad.

Others include Mississippi, Utah, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. The law will go into effect on July 1st.

Fordham Law School professor Deborah Denno, who is a leading expert on the death penalty in the U.S. weighed in saying, "The firing squad is the quickest, surest, and most error-free and the only technique for which we have skilled and trained professionals.”
