Kaela Malchoff, a 17-year-old Girl Scout from Anchorage, Alaska, has come up with a creative way to maximize her cookie sales. For the last three years, she has been renovating a 1970s travel trailer, turning it into a drive-thru cookie kiosk, and now the “Cookie Booth” is open for business.
Every weekend this month, the enterprising teen has been at her cookie drive-thru, parked in the parking lot in front of an Anchorage grocery store, often with her mother and siblings. She has a goal to sell 5-thousand boxes of cookies and judging by the traffic at her stand, she looks to be well on track to meet that goal.
By most accounts, Kaela’s customers really appreciate the convenience of her drive-thru operation. “It’s very convenient for them to get their cookies,” Kaela says. “They really give me a lot of compliments on how it’s a smart idea.” “I don’t have to get out of my car,” one customer points out as she picks up multiple boxes of cookies. “I can drive up … and get what I want.”
