Dickie Spargo, the senior pastor of City Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, was heartbroken to learn that students in the state owed more than $1-million in school lunch debt.
Wanting to help, Pastor Dickie took up an offering at his Charlotte-area church and raised $23-thousand to pay off the $13-thousand in school lunch debt owed in Gaston County.
The money will pay off the current debt and the balance will go toward paying for future meals, but Pastor Dickie hopes the state government will come up with a more permanent solution.
