Last Saturday at a Chick-fil-A south of Washington, D.C., three Marines stepped in to prevent a stabbing.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, two teens approached another young man and got into an argument that turned into a physical altercation.
One of the suspects pulled out a large kitchen knife, but before he could use it, three nearby Marines quickly jumped in, separating the suspects from the victim and breaking the knife in half.
The suspects fled the scene with the victim’s cell phone, but fortunately, the Marines’ actions prevented anyone from being hurt. Deputies arrived moments later and searched the area for the suspects, finding them nearby and arresting them on charges including assault, robbery, and attempted felony wounding.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office later released a statement praising the Marines for intervening. “Thank you to the hero Marines who stepped up in order to protect the victim,” the Sheriff’s Office writes. “Without you, this altercation could have been a lot worse.”
