In a viral TikTok post from last week, Blakey says she was going through a difficult time and having a bad day.
She went to her local Trader Joe's to get some groceries and her cashier was trying to make small talk with her, but she was so upset, she wasn’t “being very responsive.”
When she started crying in the store, the cashier left briefly and returned with a bouquet of flowers for her.
Blakey says she started crying even more over the kind gesture. She shared her appreciation for the act of kindness, emphasizing the impact the small gesture had on her day.
The post received thousands of likes and hundreds of comments from viewers sharing their own stories of their positive experiences with Trader Joe’s employees.
One user was given flowers by an employee, while another received a free box of protein bars for their husband after a TJ’s employee learned he was deployed overseas.
Blakey says this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy, and says, “You never know what one small act of kindness is going to do for somebody.”
