Air New Zealand is asking passengers to step on the scale before boarding the aircraft. This is all thanks to New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority which is asking that customers be weighed on international flights from Auckland through July 2, 2023. Officials justify the reason by saying, “We weigh everything that goes on the aircraft – from the cargo to the meals onboard, to the luggage in the hold.”
Though stepping on a scale before hopping on a plane may freak some people out, the airline assures the public that no one can see the number on the scale – not even the airline employees – and that each passenger’s weight is completely anonymous.
