“Friends” hasn’t had new episodes in nearly 20 years, but fans still can’t get enough. And soon, they’ll be able to get their caffeine fix in a real-life Central Perk.
Later this year, Central Perk Coffee Co. is opening a permanent location in Boston. It’s inspired by the hangout and coffee spot on the sitcom that ran from 1994 to 2004. It’s a collaboration between Warner Bros, who made the show, and CenPen Holdings, LLC, which includes coffee and food experts like “Top Chef” judge and restaurateur Tom Colicchio. He even helped with the Central Perk menu.
There’s already a “Friends” Experience in New York City and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Los Angeles that have sets that make fans feel like they’re in the show, but the Boston Central Perk will be a little different. The Newbury Street location will take inspo from the original set, with their modern-fully functional coffeehouse.
