“Angel” Saves Georgia Man’s Life After Motorcycle Crash

Earlier this month, 23-year-old Dylan Durham was riding his motorcycle to a friend’s house before sunrise when he collided with a deer near Stockbridge, Georgia. As he lay on the side of the road severely injured and in pain, Joe Hoagland just happened to pass by.

It wasn't Hoagland’s usual route, but when he drove up to the crash site, he couldn’t get by because of the wreckage. Hoagland got out of his vehicle, started looking around with his flashlight, and then he heard the motorcyclist’s distant call for help. He called 911 and talked to Durham until paramedics arrived.

Durham, who was conscious through the whole ordeal, says Hoagland is an "angel" and credits him with saving his life. For his part, Hoagland feels like it might have been divine intervention that brought him there that morning. Despite losing his leg and suffering multiple broken bones, Durham is optimistic about his recovery and is looking forward to the arrival of his first child. Hoagland visited him in the recovery and now the pair have forged a friendship that will last a lifetime.
