Stranger Pays For KISS Fan With Terminal Cancer To Meet Band

KISS superfans Tom Davenport and his son Joss got an experience of a lifetime when they got to meet the band, all thanks to the generosity of a total stranger. Last year, Tom was diagnosed with terminal bile duct cancer and when his friend Melanie Atkins learned of his diagnosis, she made it her mission to help him get to finally meet his favorite rock band.

Atkins shared Tom’s story on social media, trying to get the band’s attention, but even though the band didn’t see the posts, another KISS fan in Sweden did, and that fellow member of the KISS Army offered to pay for Tom to meet the band at the upcoming farewell show in Manchester.

This past weekend Tom and Joss along with a handful of KISS fans got to see the band’s soundcheck before their show at AO Arena in Manchester. Then Tom and his son got to take some pictures with the band. "It was amazing,” he recalls, “Absolutely amazing." And that the whole event was thanks to the kindness of a fellow fan they’d never met made it even better. "It's mind-blowing the generosity of strangers,” Tom says, “it restores your faith in humanity a bit when something like this happens."
