6-Year-Old Saves Little Brother From Drowning In Pool

During a Fourth of July celebration in Anderson County, South Carolina, six-year-old Atticus Whitlock turned into a real-life hero when he saved his two-year-old brother, Anson, from drowning. The boys were at a family gathering at their grandparents' home when Anson slipped into the pool unnoticed while the boys' mother briefly looked away.

Fortunately, Atticus saw his little brother enter the pool and quickly dived in, bringing him to the surface. "I went under and then I grabbed him and pulled him up," the six-year-old hero recalls. By this time, the boys’ mom, Savannah Whitlock, had become aware of the situation and helped pull Anson from the pool.

At first, Anson was lethargic, so he was taken to a nearby hospital, but after being checked out by doctors, he was later released. Now Atticus is being praised for his life-saving actions. Both the ambulance driver and the fire department acknowledged his heroics and his family is beyond proud, with his mom saying they’re thankful that Anson has “a superhero for a big brother.”
