Cop Surprises Boy Looking For Work With New PlayStation

Earlier this week, a resident in Hapeville, Georgia, called the local police “wanting a juvenile removed from the area.” Officer Eric Colleran responded to the call, but instead of finding the boy was being a nuisance, he learned the young man was going door-to-door in the neighborhood offering to pull weeds, cut grass, and trim hedges, hoping to earn enough money so he could buy a Sony PlayStation gaming console.

Officer Colleran was impressed with the boy, describing him as "polite, respectful, and truthful." Being a gamer himself, the officer wanted to reward the young man’s hardworking spirit and help him reach his goal. With help from some of his friends, Colleran went out and bought a PlayStation 5 and a gift card so the boy could start playing right away.

The Hapeville Police Department posted a video on social media of the moment Colleran gave the young man the PlayStation. The boy was speechless and just hugged the thoughtful officer. Community members responded with an outpouring of support for both the boy and Officer Colleran. One commenter to the post appreciated the boy's work ethic and hopes he’s "well on his way to running a business." Another commended Officer Colleran for acknowledging the young man's strong work ethic, writing, "We need more of both of you in this world!"
