Ivy, a one-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed dog, once faced the possibility of being euthanized due to overcrowding at the Smith County Animal Control and Shelter in Tyler, Texas.
But she was given a new lease on life through the shelter's "Hero Dog" Program, where eligible dogs become blood donors for animals in need at the Tyler Animal Emergency Clinic.
As a reward for her donation, Ivy received necessary medical treatments and was eventually adopted into a new forever home.
