Earlier this week, a FedEx driver traveling on Interstate 15 near Scripps Ranch, north of San Diego, California, stopped to rescue a driver from the wreckage of a burning car. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Camry had veered off the road, striking the guardrail, which led to the car becoming "fully engulfed in flames."
The 28-year-old man behind the wheel of the Camry managed to get himself out of the vehicle and collapsed on the ground. That's when the FedEx driver saw him, stopped his truck, got out, and dragged the man away from the car just before a series of explosions. Another passerby used a fire extinguisher to try and get the blaze under control before firefighters arrived and fully extinguished it.
Speaking to reporters, the FedEx driver says as soon as he saw the burning car, he knew he had to do something to help the driver, adding, “You gotta stop to see if you can do anything at all." The driver suffered a major leg injury, but fortunately, his injuries aren’t life-threatening. Although, it might have been much much worse if the FedEx driver hadn’t stopped to help.
