K-9 Helps Reunite Parents With Boy Wandering Alone At Night

Around 2 am on Saturday morning, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office in Allendale Township, Michigan, received a call about a young boy, around three or four years old, wandering alone in his pajamas in the middle of heavy rain. The child was unable to tell deputies where he was from because, as they later learned, he was autistic and nonverbal.

Deputies did a search of the area but weren’t able to figure out where the child came from, so officers brought in their canine colleague K-9 Goos. The dog was able to follow a short trail, leading deputies to a nearby apartment complex across the road from where the child was found.

The deputies located the child’s apartment, returning him to his relieved family and bringing a happy ending to the boy's adventure. In a statement, the sheriff's office said the "child was reunited with his family safely and without any injuries."
