Medina Fire Chief Larry Walters is being recognized for his recent effort in helping to save a woman from a house fire.
Walters was saluted at Monday's city council meeting for his actions last Tuesday.
With a woman trapped in the basement of a burning Branch Road home, Walters climbed in through a window and helped lift the woman through to other first responders and then stayed back as long as he could to search for the woman's dog.
The chief and other rescuers from the scene were later taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke-related illnesses.
