The Summit County Department of Sanitary Sewer Services has a message for residents in regards to so-called flushable wipes.

Don't flush.

The department says that even though many of those wipes are marketed as flushable, they are not, and they play havoc with sewer pipes.

The department says the wipes do not break down in the same way that toilet paper does and that they have a tendency to clog residential and municipal sewer lines.

In a message released yesterday, the department asks residents to throw away the wipes.
